Lots to blog about today!!
I’ve been pretty busy these past few days… I left for a red eye on Friday and landed in Michigan on Saturday. I had seen my sister just a couple months ago when she came out to see me, but this was the first time I had seen the rest of my family in about 6 months. I spent Memorial Day catching up with everyone and giving my nephews a lot of hugs and kisses.
Today was the Indie Biz Chicks Conference in Flint, MI. We had a really good turn out and it was awesome to meet some of my readers & MySpace Friends face to face. I’m so used to doing stuff online - I really hope to do more in person events with people soon! Don’t get me wrong - I do enjoy the flexibility the internet provides and hope to always be internet based. It was just really neat to have someone who reads your blog posts look you in the face and say “thanks for doing what you do.”
And then I was also featured in an interview on Sparkplugging.com - a very cool site for work at home moms. If you’ve been turned off by the work at home sites of the past, you’ll love this one. Are you going to be in Michigan on May 28??
I am going to be very busy for the next 45 hours or so, trying to cross off all the “to-do’s” on my list and pack my bags because I am heading home on Friday. Three flights later, I will be arriving in my home state of Michigan on Saturday, landing just before noon.
(You gotta remember - I’m starting out in Alaska. It’s gonna take a while to get there….)
Anyhow, I will be at The Indie Biz Chicks Conference on May 28. So if you wanna meet me in person, this is the place to go. Registration begins at 9:30am and the Morning Breakout Sessions last from 10:15-11:30am
Lessons Include: “Professional Surfing”: Learn how to increase your business by embracing internet marketing and adding it into your current marketing mix (I’ll be one of the presenters on that topic) and “Covering Your Assets” As you know, starting a business carries certain liabilities, and before you fall flat on your face, make sure you know the ins and outs of insurance, banking, ownership styles and more.
There will be a lunch from 11:45 - 1:00pm, and I will also be delivering the Keynote Presentation during this time. It will be on one of my favorite topics, “Power Publicity!”
The Afternoon Breakout Sessions will run from 1:15-2:30pm and the topics include “Getting Your Craft On”: Yes, there really is such a thing as a profitable craft business. If you’ve got the skills, learn how to use them to pay the bills & “Absolutely Fabulous” Let’s face it - first impressions count. Without a good one, you probably won’t have a chance to make a second one at all. Learn how to turn your next event into a success.

Get Ready For Power Publicity Version 2.0
If you were one of the first people to learn about the launch of IndieBizChicks.com last year, you probably remember the “Power Publicity!” guide.
This was a free guide that I used to generate some buzz about the launch of the website, and I gave it away to my first 100 subscribers.
I used the same techniques I wrote about in the guide to promote my own website and since launching the site - less than a year ago, I’ve received some amazing results.
