If you have read much of my blog or website in the past, you may remember me mentioning the name Alice Seba. For those of you who don’t know, she kind of pioneered a new way to do business online.
Some website owners out there are a bit schwarmy and untrustworthy. Alice is doing her part to get rid of that behavior by teaching people that they can be nice and still be successful!
She’s been working at home since the early 2000’s and has become one of the major sources of info in the work at home community.
Her son is currently participating in a fundraiser at his school for an organization that helps stroke victims. To help him raise his goal of $1,000, Alice is offering her Internet Marketing Sweetie course for FREE. If you wish to donate something you can, but you are not obligated.
This is a great course and I encourage you to pick it up. I have learned A LOT from Alice over the years and I know you will get something out of her info, too!
To download your free copy of The Internet Marketing Sweetie Course (and learn how to donate to the fundraiser) visit www.internetmarketingsweetie.com/sweetie.html

Insights & Oprah, Part II
So what else can we learn about marketing from Oprah? Lots! Here are a few more tips:
- Good Deeds Attract Attention - Yes, I’m sure Oprah does a lot of the things she does just out of the kindness of her heart, but by publicizing those good deeds, she gets attention for it. While you may not be able to promote your good work on a national television show, you can still blog about, send in a press release, etc
- Team Up With Others - Oprah knows a good thing when she sees it, and so she signed on to produce Dr. Phil & The Rachael Ray Show. If you see something that looks like a good idea, but are unable to do that thing yourself, team up with someone who can and split the profits
- Lean On Others - You can’t be a huge success and handle all your day-to-day tasks. Some stuff is going to need to be outsourced. I can tell you that Oprah does not handle the ticket requests for her show or even scout all her guests. She’s got people for that. She hired her best friend to be the Editor of one of her magazines and she found talented, qualified people to run her radio network and I’m sure she’s doing the same thing right now for the television network that is in the works. If your business is going to grow larger than what it is now, you’re going to have to find help in completing all the new work.
- Keep A Positive Attitude - Most people know that Oprah life was far from charmed. She has faced a lot of adversity and could easily have given up. Once she achieved success, she started getting criticized for being overweight and every other little thing the press could find to talk about. Did she give up? No! She kept fighting! So go out there, and grow your business, no matter what anyone says!!
I gain insights, even in my sleep…
I had a pretty crazy dream last night… I dreamed that I was back in school and that I had to give a speech on the marketing strategies that you could learn from a tv personality, and I was assigned Oprah……
Now, to be honest, I am somewhat known for having the weirdest dreams ever. In fact, my other dreams last night involved helping my grandparents with a radio fundraiser ( my grandpa passed away in 1991), meeting my current dog’s reincarnation 20 years into the future, and trying to drive a bus between two mountains, in a raging storm, over a very weak looking bridge. And there were others - those are just a few of the dreams I had last night. For me, going to sleep is never boring - it is like watching movies all night long….
So anyhow, I had this assignment in my dream, and I actually planned out my speech during this dream and remember what I was going to say. I figured I may as well put the work I did in the dream to good use and blog about it.
How To Apply Oprah’s Marketing Strategies Into Your Business
- Do What You Love- I don’t think it’s a big secret - Oprah likes to help people, she likes to teach people, she likes to talk to people, and she has a definite fondness for the written word. I mean, she probably has the world’s largest book club. So what did she do? She became a news anchor centered on interviewing people and reporting the news. And she wasn’t happy. So, she spawned that into a career where she still gets to interview people - but she actually gets to talk to them. She teaches people about new things by talking to various experts (oh, and building that school helps, too), and we all know where the love of the written word led…
- Create Multiple Streams Of Income - Oprah’s got a TV show, a production company which produces other television shows, movies & Broadway plays; two magazines; several books; a radio network, a tv network in the works, and well… lots more stuff that I am not going to bother listing. Take a lesson from the Big O and create several corresponding products. You’ll have more to offer your market and therefore, make more sales and earn more profits.
- It’s OK To Promote Your Own Products - When Oprah’s involved in something, she’s going to talk about it on the show, she’s going to write about it in the magazine, she’ll air commercials for it during the show and print ads for it in the magazine. This woman is not afraid to give herself a shameless plug. And you shouldn’t be either. If you are working on something, start telling people about it, in any way you can. From blogging about it to posting MySpace bulletins, do whatever you can to get the word out.
See what fun and interesting dreams I have??? And we’re only half way through! I’ll post Part 2 tomorrow…..
