It’s the day after Labor Day… and that means that it’s officially time to get back to business! Throughout the month, I am going to be posting “Back To Biz” tips.
The first tip is something basic … something so basic, you might not even think to do it. It’s time to check your schedule!
If you don’t have some type of planner or calendar, whether it’s digital or paper, now is the time to get one. And once you have one, it’s time to create a work schedule!
I know that creating – and maintaining a work schedule can sound very boring. You may have started your own business to get away from the boring and mundane tasks you face at your “day job.” But your business is a business and you need a work schedule to keep it running smooth. Plus, this will help you stay on track.
For example, if you schedule yourself to work from 7pm – 9pm on your business, and you write it down on your schedule, you will be less likely to sit on the couch and watch TV at that time. Trust me – when you work for yourself, it can be a little too easy to procrastinate!
And remember – when you sit down to schedule your working hours, you need to base that on how much income you want to bring it. You can’t sit around and day dream about earning a six figure income if you’re only working 3 hours a week.
Be realistic. Think about how much you want to earn, and then pencil in the hours that it will take to get you there. And then, you simply show up to work.
Easy Peasy.
