Last Friday (June 8), I watched my nephews receive their Red Belts in Tang Soo Do. This is a huge achievement. This is the “half-way” to Black Belt milestone.
My nephews have been going to karate class for two years. They go to class several times per week, and also participate in STORM, which is a weekly class where they learn to help other students.
My oldest nephew, Caden, is almost 13 and my youngest nephew, Trenton, has recently turned 8. They are busy kids! They have school, homework, and other sports to include in their schedule. Plus, like normal kids their age, they want to play video games, hang out with their friends, etc.
In the past two years, they have advanced through six belt levels, and have just about as many to advance through to Black belt. They show up to class and push their bodies to kick higher and hit harder, and they push their minds to memorize new forms and strategies.
As their Master says, it is “Easy to quit and hard to finish.”
Not many people make it to Red Belt and only about 1% will make it to Black Belt.
In many ways, your business is the same way. It is a struggle to get achieve success. It is easy to quit. Most people who start businesses do quit.
But what are you going to do? Are you going to put in the years of work to get to where you want to be? Is it worth it to you?
