Whether you just want to earn a little quick cash, but don’t want to take on a second job or even replace your current income and quit your day job, you have many choices when it comes to working from home. The following are a few examples of how to earn money from home (of course, you should also do some research on your own, as there are many more choices out there):
Telecommuting: Thanks to high speed internet and other technological advances, more companies are able to offer telecommuting positions. You can talk to your current employer about transitioning your current in-the-office gig into a telecommuting one, or you can apply at a company that specifically offers these types of positions.
You can find jobs in many different fields, such as data entry, customer service, virtual assistance, tutoring, writing, marketing, sales, and more. My friend Nell has a great website with lots of information, and I definitely recommend you going there to learn more. You can find it at www.telecommutinganswerlady.com
Start A Service Based Business: If you don’t want to work for someone else, you can take the skills you use in your day job (or wish you could use) and start your own business. Some examples include a web designer, virtual assistant, ghostwriter, programmer, etc.
You can also take the word “consultant” and apply it to whatever you have a background in and start marketing that service. For instance, if you are a teacher, you can become an “educational consultant” and create lesson plans for daycares or home schooling parents. You can work with a museum and plan field trips or other fun stuff.
Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate Marketing is a term used to describe a marketing method many companies, including Amazon.com, Target, and Apple, are now using. Instead of paying for advertising their selves, they offer affiliate programs where individuals can sign up and market the company’s products and services. When a sales is made, the company pays the affiliate for sending the customer to them.
When you sign up with a company as an affiliate, you get special links that you can display on your website or blog. Visit a company’s website to see if they have an affiliate program. Commission Junction and Linkshare are great places to start, as they manage the affiliate programs for many different companies. Their websites are cj.com and linkshare.com.
Sell Your Own Products: If you make your own physical products, selling them online is a great way to make money from home. First of all, selling them online allows your customers to buy them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can set up your own website or use a service such as etsy.com.
You can also make money from home by selling digital products. In fact, I highly recommend this, as it is pretty passive income. A digital product is a special report, ebook, Mp3 file, or any other informational product. You can even bind them together, such as offering a “how-to guide” in audio format and a written guide with action sheets.
Anyone can create an informational product. Take a look at your current target market, and think about what they would like information on. For example, if you design and sell handmade purses, you could create a how-to guide that teaches people how to keep their bags organized or how to take a bag and personalize it to fit your own style by adding brooches, hat pins, scarves, etc.
The best part is, you only have to create the information product once, and then you can sell it over and over again. Since it is digital, you simply give your customers the download link and you’re all set. You don’t have to worry about shipping costs or anything like that.
As you can see, there are lots of ways to make money from home, and I barely even scratched the surface! If you’re looking for a way to earn some extra cash from home, keep researching, and you’ll find something that fits your personality and interests.
