Attention from the media is a BIG deal. Being interviewed – or even mentioned in a news story – is a very nice “seal of approval” – and it can work better than advertising! If you buy an ad in a newspaper, magazine, on a local TV channel, etc, people will know it’s an ad; however, if someone sees you in a story from a media source they know and trust, they will think you must be pretty awesome to be in that news story.
Here are 5 ways to get more media attention:
Press Releases – They really work! If you’re not telling the media about yourself and your business, how are they going to know you exist? You can’t wait for the media to knock on your door; you have to knock on their door!
HARO – If you haven’t signed up for the Help A Reporter Out mailings, do so today! You’ll get three emails a day, Monday – Friday, full of reporters / journalists / media professionals looking for people to interview. If you match what they are looking for, send them an email! You might just get featured in a great story!
Twitter – Interact with the reporters / journalists / media professionals you know from local and national magazines, news shows, etc on Twitter. You don’t have to constantly be pitching them! But build up a friendly relationship. When they’re looking for a source for a story, they may automatically think of you!
Press Kit – Create a physical – or digital – press kit; it should include a press release, a head shot, some press clippings (if you have them), testimonials from past clients / customers, and a sample product (if that applies).
Press Page – Create a page on your website or blog, full of your press clippings — as in links to articles, blog posts, etc that you have been featured in. Every little bit counts!

I think that what you said was very reasonable. But, what about this? what if you added a little content? I ain’t saying your content is not solid, however suppose you added something that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is kinda plain. You might peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create article headlines to get people to open the links. You might add a video or a related pic or two to grab people interested about what you’ve got to say. In my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit more interesting.|
