It’s really easy to say you’re going to do something. An even easier to sit around and think about doing something. But when it comes time to actually get off your butt and do it…. Well, that’s not always so easy.
Most of the time, it’s procrastination that holds us back.
Running a business is hard. Trust me. I know. I’m not a super-robot who can whip out blog posts while cooking dinner. I strive to find the balance between my business and my personal life.
There are days when the idea of sitting on the couch, eating snacks and watching TV sounds way better than turning on the computer and answering email. Unfortunately, the TV isn’t going to pay you to watch it. If you want to earn some money, you’re going to have to get in front of the computer and bang out those emails or blog posts, etc.
Procrastination might not be the only thing standing in your way. Another problem may be that you are setting your goals a bit too high. If you pile too much on your plate, you’re setting yourself up for failure. That doesn’t mean that you should only set easy goals. You should still be giving yourself a challenge. Just keep your goals in line with your actions.
For example – you can say you’re going to build a new website for your business in the next week, but if you’ve never built a website and don’t know how to, it’s probably going to take more than a week to finish your project.
Big Lesson? Quit procrastinating and set realistic goals, and the next time you say you’re going to do something, you’ll be able to finish it!
