Okay… some of you may think the title of this post is a bit harsh. And then there are those of you who are completely agreeing with me. You know who you are……..
So, the questions are a) How do you know you’re ready for a change, and b) How do you get up the courage to do it?
Personally, I think the answer to both is just to listen to yourself. You are pretty smart, and you probably don’t give yourself half the credit you deserve.
Whenever I feel like I’m drowning or suffocating, I know it’s time for a change. I guess those feelings are hard to describe, but it really does boil down to a “do it now or die” type of feeling…
The feeling might be different for you. But I am pretty sure that you will know it when you feel it.
As for getting up the courage… Again, listen to yourself. If you feel that the time is right, act on it. Do what your heart is telling you to do. It’s gonna be scary. It’s supposed to be. If it were easy, you wouldn’t have the “do it now or die” feeling.
If you’ve never listened to yourself, the thought of that can be a pretty foreign concept. You are probably thinking “What in the hell are you talking about?”
All I can tell you is to just get quiet. Be by yourself. Turn off the TV, the music, etc. Listen to yourself. Are you happy? Are you ready for a change? Do you need a new adventure? Ask yourself what you need. Again – you are smart. Don’t let your brain tell your heart what you need – let your heart tell you what you need.
Once you’ve thought about it for a bit, it’s time to jump. Don’t think about it. Just do it. Swiftly and on purpose. Keep moving forward. Don’t stop and think. Don’t look back. Keep going.
You won’t be sorry.
Crissy – this is such an awesome post. In the Grand Canyon-kind of awesome. Not the ‘totally tubular’-kind of awesome. I might even print it out.
Your suggestion to just get quiet is right on. That really is the best way to find your own answers. For sure!
last year in May…i did and i am so happy. Now i am starting to build on it, but boy is it slow. And, my house has hardly been cleaned in a year, 😀 and as a naturally impulsive person i really scared myself a few times! like: “leap and the net will appear” well, sometimes you better take a flashlight to see the net!
fantastic post.
Awww, thanks, ladies! You are both very sweet to say such awesome things!
