5 Tips For Getting More Publicity

news-girl copyEvery business needs more publicity, and that includes your business! “Publicity” is a pretty broad term, but basically, it means getting featured in the media.

This can be a traditional media outlet, such as a newspaper, or it could mean being featured in a blog post (which is part of the “new media.”)

Here are some tips on how you can start getting more publicity:

Write Guest Posts – A very simple way to start building some buzz for your biz is to write guest post on other people’s blogs.

Work With Bloggers – You can also work with bloggers by sending them items to review and / or giveaway on their blogs. Be cautious about this, though – you don’t want to giveaway more than you can afford. (p.s. Sign up for my new, free, service where I help connect bloggers and businesses.)

Send Press Releases – Don’t ignore your own backyard! Send press releases to your local media. I’ve been featured in my local paper numerous times because of this!

Use HaroHaro stands for “Help A Reporter Out,” and when you sign up for this free service, you’ll receive 3 emails a day, Monday – Friday. Each email is full of  queries from reporters. One of them may be looking to interview a health professional in the NYC area and another may be looking to interview a mom with a home based business in Topeka, Kansas. You never know what you’ll find – so keep an eye out, and when you match what a reporter is looking for, send them an email.

Ask Friends For Help – Do you have any friends who have blogs? Ask them to do an “interview swap.” You’ll interview them for your blog and they’ll interview you for their blog!
