If you are on this site, the chances are pretty high that you are interested in earning money from home, primarily through your own business. Since it’s #BlogWeek, I thought I would introduce you to the Become A Blog Consultant program.
This program will teach you everything you need to know to set up your own blog consultant business. As a blog consultant, you will work with other businesses by installing and customizing blogs for them. You can find local clients, as well as clients online.
I asked the Become A Blog Consultant founder, Kelly McCausey to answer the following questions about the program:
ME: In a nutshell, what is Become A Blog Consultant?
Kelly McCausey: It is a 12 month training course that guides you through the creation, launch and growth of your own web consulting business, serving a local or niche business market.
What kind of things will people learn, and what types of learning materials are provided?
You’ll learn about creating a consulting business around your skills, about outsourcing work that you don’t personally have interest in yet your clients will need and about winning and working with clients. Lessons cover all aspects of running a consulting business.
All of the lessons are delivered by printable PDF. There will be a few live webinars/recordings for members over time as well.
We also provide our members with some exclusive PLR and marketing tools that they can use to promote themselves.
Why are blog consultants a hot commodity right now?
Because everyone is hearing about the importance of the social web. Small business owners are feeling the pressure to bring their businesses online but they’re intimidated by the technology. They need someone they can trust to make sense of the options and show they how to apply it to their unique business.
I focus heavily on using WordPress in the course. It’s an amazing tool that lets you put your clients in control of their own webcontent if they wish to. WordPress opens up web consulting market significantly since you don’t need complicated or expensive software on your computer or on your client’s computer.
What kind of skills does a person need to start the program?
You must be comfortable with the internet, search engines and social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. Your potential clients will expect you to discuss them confidently. If you have a firm grip on basic internet marketing principles like creating and distributing targeted content, building good inbound links and using good search engine optimization strategy you have a head start.
We provide abundant learning resources on all of these topics just in case a member lacks understanding in them.
I should mention that the BABC program does not attempt to teach coding or try to provide training about working with WordPress itself. If someone wants to actually design blogs, I highly recommend Lynette Chandler’s Blog Theme Bootcamp for that.
If someone has no interest in starting a blog business, will Become A Blog Consultant teach them what they need to know to manage their own blog for their own business?
That’s an interesting question Crissy. I’ve never thought about it being used that way. The focus is heavy on developing a web consulting business. It’s a great program for a Virtual Assistant who wants to have a specialty. The same would be true for a writer or a graphic designer. I don’t think I’d recommend it to someone who is not interested in providing services though.
Thanks for the opportunity to talk about Become a Blog Consultant!
