On July 16, 2009 I got a call from my doctor that changed everything. She told me to go to the hospital and get a blood transfusion, immediately.
After many days in the hospital (and many blood and plasma transfusions later) I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia. I have a B12 Deficiency. I give myself a monthly B12 shot, and I’m okay.
I will never forget what it felt like to be in the hospital at 31 and not knowing if I was going to see 32. The people who aren’t so lucky will always be on my mind.
When I was in the hospital, I decided that if I got out, I’d never take anything for granted. I would grab onto every opportunity and do whatever I could to live my life to the fullest.
And I encourage you to do the same! So, in honor of being alive and the feeling of taking on the world, join me in celebrating my 2nd Anniversary Of Not Being Dead! I created a Facebook Event. You just have to click on it that you’re attending, and give me a mental “high five for being alive” …
Pretty simple. But totally worth it!
