The clock is officially ticking. The holidays will be here in a little less than five months. That means, you have about three months to get your holiday marketing in gear!
Over the next week, I’ll be writing blog posts on the subject of holiday marketing and promotions.
Here are a few tips on time lines to get you started:
Major magazines work 4 – 6 months ahead. If you want to be featured in the November or December issue of a big magazine, you need to get your press kit to them NOW.
Regional and local magazines & media will have less strict deadlines. You have some time to gather their info – but be sure to send them your info before October.
Many bloggers create a content calendar and will know what they are writing about a month or two in advance. Technically, you can email a blogger on December 1 and get featured before December 25, but why chance it? I’m already getting emails from PR agencies everyday, asking if I’ll feature their clients in my holiday gift guide. Remember – the early bird gets the worm!
