Trenton, The Dead Nomad

I watched my nephew Trenton all day today, from about 1pm until after 8pm. Six year old boys get bored very easily, so I decided to take him on a walk to help him burn off some energy.

Well, it wasn’t long into the walk when he asked if we could go home. He said his legs were hurting. I told him that a long time ago, people didn’t have homes, they were nomads, and they had to walk. That they walked all day, every day. I then asked him what he would do if he had been born during those days.

He looked at me and said “I would just lay down.”

I told him that if he did that, he’d be laying down to die. He replied “What do you mean? How am I going to die if I just lay down?”

I explained that his people would keep walking and leave him behind. He’d have no one to help him find food or shelter or help him fight off the animals, and he’d end up dying.

A few minutes later, we came across a big rock. He hopped on top of it and said “Well, this is what I’d look like,” and proceeded to give me his best impersonation of a dead nomad.

So, how did you spend your Sunday?
