Robyn Warne Design (Vendor Post)

What I create:
Whimsical hand painted ornaments for all occasions. I hand paint my original designs on traditional glass ball ornaments and unique wood cutout ornaments. Custom designed ornaments are a specialty of mine.

Random Facts:
• I’m a self-taught artist, learning painting techniques by reading, experimenting & networking with artists online.
• I’m still using the drafting table I got in high school.
• I started out making and selling wood cutout ornaments, adding glass ornaments after receiving many requests for them.
• My biggest source of inspiration is my overactive imagination, I love that I’ve managed to harness it and put it to work!
• I have extremely poor eyesight.

About Me:

I am a lifelong doodler. Some of my earliest memories are of drawing with a Sharpie marker on paper. I still have the clipboard my Dad gave me to prevent my ruining the furniture when the marker bled through the paper. My parents encouraged my creativity by giving me supplies and the freedom to make whatever I wanted to. I believe this is how I developed my unique style.

As an adult I became fascinated with Christmas Ornaments. My husband’s Mother is a long time collector of hand crafted ornaments and started giving me a new ornament each Christmas before we got married. By the time we had a tree of our own, I had my own collection to display! I just had to make my own! This inspired me to learn how to recreate my own drawings as painted ornament designs. I am a self taught painter, learning techniques from magazines, books, other artists I’ve met in online groups and through my own experimentation.

About My Business:

I sell my original ornament designs on my website and etsy shop. There are traditional holiday designs including angels & penguins. Trendy Sweet Sixteen purse & dress ornaments, and more unusual designs like my Wedding Skull ornament sets.

A large part of my business is creating custom designed ornaments for clients.
• For Weddings I’ve painted portraits of brides & grooms on glass ball & wood cutout ornaments. Created cutout ornaments of wedding cakes, painted wood dress cutout ornaments for bridal parties and designed ornaments using elements from the wedding invitation or save the date announcement.
• For Sweet Sixteen celebrations dress ornaments in the birthday girl’s favorite color & cute car ornaments are popular.
• Fun, Fantasy & Unusual designs are some of my favorite custom design requests. I’ve recently completed a set of colorful Alice in Wonderland inspired designs. A Great White Shark wood cutout ornament is one of my more unusual design requests. A set of wood cutout ornaments representing 4 generations of girls with the same first name was another wonderful & different design request.

I am a member of The Society of Decorative Painters , and I paint paper mache’ boxes for the Memory Box Artist’s Program .
