Should Your Marketing Be Monogamous?

When it comes to marketing, it seems as though some people fall in love with one method, get married to it, and stay monogamous. In my opinion, this may be the right way to treat your spouse, but it certainly isn’t a good way to treat your business. In fact, it’s just plain wrong!

Yes – that’s right. I think that when it comes to marketing, you should be playing the field. There are many benefits to using different types of marketing. First of all, you’ll be attracting different audiences. For example, if you use Facebook to market your business, you’ll find people who, generally speaking, are computer literate and enjoy social networking.

If you send out some press releases to the major newspapers and regional magazines in your area, and end up getting a few features, you’ll be reaching a whole new audience.

And of course, the more people who know about your business, the better. As long as they’re in your target market, of course! If they aren’t people who would be interested n your product or service, it really doesn’t matter if they know you exist or not. But that’s another story…….

As you are trying out different marketing methods, keep track of your efforts and the results you are getting. The key is to find out what works, and then keep doing it. But never be too comfortable! Things can change overnight in the marketing world. What is working today may not be working tomorrow.

In the meantime, experiment and have fun! Marketing wasn’t meant to be monogamous

  1. Great article Crissy and so right. Some people get overwhelmed with all the marketing options. You don’t have to do them all, but you should be using a few.
